Occurrence and removal of emerging pollutants in urban sewage treatment plants using LC-QToF-MS suspect screening and quantification

چکیده
Urban wastewaters (WW) are a major vector of many emerging pollutants (EPs) to aquatic ecosystems, as urban wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) not designed abate them. New methods now critically necessary for more comprehensive analysis WW samples and the assessment WWTP efficiency in EP removal. To this end, present study aims develop methodology identify quantify EPs, especially pharmaceutical residues pesticides, raw treated 10 heterogeneous WWTPs highly urbanized territory France over three sampling campaigns, through following steps: (1) development implementation suspect screening EPs samples, based on solid phase extraction followed by an LC-QToF-MS analysis; (2) confirmation their identification reinjection spiked with authentic analytical standards; (3) quantification previously identified compounds targeted effluents removal WWTPs. Forty-one including 37 (such anti-depressive, anti-hypertensive, or antipsychotic drugs) 4 were screening. Some them (e.g. milnacipran) reported first time study. High variability detection frequency concentrations observed function WWTP. Nevertheless, median rates considered negative low than 50% (respectively 17), leading significant WW. Their release into receiving streams may thus lead ecotoxicological risks that should be evaluated order prevent any degradation exposed ecosystems.

Antibiotics Removal in Biological Sewage Treatment Plants
This study investigated the occurrence and removal of 12 antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, levofloxacin, norfloxacin, nalidixic acid, azithromycin, clarithromycin, roxithromycin, lincomycin, novobiocin, sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim) at four sewage treatment plants (STPs): two STPs in Kyoto, Japan and two STPs in Beijing, China. The STPs differed in design and operation conditions, uti...
